What is a health coach?

A health coach is a supportive mentor specializing in behavior change. We help you to discover strategies and motivation for change, overcome obstacles, and implement individualized diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes that meet your unique needs and health goals. Health coaching is a thought provoking and creative process inspiring you to take health into your own hands and maximize your potential.

How can a health coach help?

We guide you on your health and wellbeing journey. We experiment with different dietary approaches to improve your overall wellbeing and/or fight disease. We incorporate physical activity into your lifestyle. We teach weight management techniques for better health. We create a lifestyle plan for managing chronic conditions. Why work with me?

Wellness and wellbeing is multifaceted, requiring a holistic approach that covers a wide range of health habits and lifestyle factors. My well-rounded experience and education background in exercise physiology, nutrition, exercise and nutrition research, fitness prescription, and functional health knowledge enables me to offer a unique combination of health coaching + personal training services together. As a personal trainer, I can help you with your fitness goals, and as a health coach, I am able to address the spectrum of wellness and facilitate behavior change, offering a more effective and efficient one stop shop for health advising and exercise engagement. Through this multidimensional approach, I will educate, support, offer accountability and structure, and empower you to achieve long term health, fitness, and goals.

What type of exercise will we do?

We will engage in an exercise program I created called 30 BOOST, which is a body weight circuit style program. Why I chose circuit training in particular for my clients, is that it’s a creative and flexible way to keep exercise interesting, save time, and most importantly, boost both cardiovascular and muscular fitness at the same time. It challenges the whole body while keeping the exercise lower impact. It requires no additional equipment or gym membership and can be done anywhere; weights or resistance bands can also be added into the program at any time. 30 BOOST is continuously evolving, so you won’t get bored with this program!

What is the scope of practice?

We help our clients develop their personal health goals, establish action steps for working toward the goal, and create sustainable behavior changes for reaching the goal. We monitor improvements and encourage sustainability of behavior change. We help our clients reach their health and fitness goals through appropriate cardiovascular, flexibility, and resistance exercise. We design and execute exercise fitness programs tailored to the needs and attainable goals of the individual in a safe and effective way. What we do not do is evaluate lab results, prescribe treatments, diagnose any medical or mental health conditions, provide counseling or therapy, or other practices outside the requisite training.
